About Us
Mud, Sweat and Tears has been famously located on the corner of West 46th Street and 10th Ave. in the Hell's Kitchen section of Manhattan for over 24 years.

We have taught generations of craftspeople clay skills and have celebrated weddings and births and long friendships along the way. We are well known for our rigorous teaching skills and close attention to our students' progress. Many of our students stay on as "studio potters", renting space from us when they have taken all our classes and wish to continue their work.

Our studio evokes a comfortable, "old school" feeling and we are often sought as a film, TV and commercial location. Many of our clay pieces have been featured in advertising, films, television and Broadway productions.

Folks come to us from all walks of life and from all over the world sharing the drive to create.

Because of the health risks associated with long-term exposure to clay dust, we keep a scrupulously immaculate studio and we're know throughout the industry as a "clean" studio.

All of our clay is non-toxic and our glazes have been leach tested and declared food safe. We depend on all members of our studio to participate in keeping the work areas clean and well ordered.

Our kilns are cone art electric.

We offer several stoneware,
cone 6 clay bodies:

  Laguna B Mix 5 white
  Laguna #80 Chocolate
  Standard #112 Brown.

Also available is Miller#10 Cone 04/06 White Earthenware for those interested in "low fire" under glazing.
